Large makes are dangerous and utmost care must be taken when working in close proximity to male bears.  Large males can and do attack mother polar bears and cubs which is why, if at all possible, males are avoided. This individual was almost stark white in colour, in contrast to many polar bears that are have a yellowish tinge to the colour of their fur
