African Black Rhinoeros (Diceros bicornis) - Kenya

The Black Rhinoceros is highly endangered and listed on the IUCN Red List. With a life span of 40-50 years black rhinos become sexually mature at 5 years with males claiming territories and mating at around the age of 12 years. An extended time to recruitment, is one of the reasons these animals are critically endangered. Poaching is the prime cause of danger to the rhino followed closely by habitat destruction
